Our nature and trekking tours are designed for those who love wandering unknown new territories. Ethiopia is not just a land rich in historical and cultural heritage, but the perfect scenario for an adventure. Our trekking tours involve challenging routes while connecting with warm and welcoming communities. If you are an adventurous, do not miss the opportunity to camp in one of the Ethiopian National Parks or feel like walking in Mars when visiting the unearthly Danakil Depression.

The Simien Mountains National Park is one of the most visited National Parks in Ethiopia. You can plan a 7 days tour up to the Ras Dejen summit (4,533 m), the rooftop of Ethiopia and the tenth highest mountain in Africa. If you are not a trekking kind of person but you do not want to miss the incredible fauna and flora of these range mountains, you can also squeeze a one day excursion during your visit to the Northern Historical route.

Another incredible set up for a trekking itinerary is the Bale Mountains National Park. You can visit three different and unique zones: the Gaysay grasslands, the Sanneti plateau and the Southern escarpments where you can find the dense Harenna forest.  Do not miss a visit to the nominated in 2009 to UNESCO’s World Heritage Site Tentative List,  covering the largest area higher than 3000m above sea level in Africa. And if you want to continue exploring the diverse and vast Ethiopian landscapes, we advice you to combine a visit to the Bale Mountains and the Awash National Park during our Great Rift Valley tour.

As part of our nature and trekking tours, we can not forget about our birdwatching itineraries. Ethiopia’s landscapes are home to more than 800 species, 23 endemic. And that is what makes Ethiopia as a ‘core’ birding destination for anyone wanting to see the birds of Africa.

However, if you are familiar with our roots, you probably know that Lalibela is always in Inside Ethiopia Tours’ heart. That is why we feel the need to thank our community by promoting a responsible tourism route in the highlands of Lalibela. Our community trekking tour in the surroundings of Lalibela is the perfect choice for those wanting to explore the famous rock-hewn churches and climb up to the nearby Abune Yosef mountain,  located at 4,260 metres and known as the 6th highest mountain in Ethiopia. You will be welcome by the highland people of Lalibela to spend the overnight at one of their traditional tukul houses.

Finally, one of the most demanded tours in the last few years is the Danakil Depression. However, this tour is not a good fit for everyone. It is part of a joining tour and you will have to adapt yourself to the desert conditions: high temperatures (above 40ºC), no toilet facilities and open air camping. This unearthly but yet unique destination is the add up to any of our tours.
